Writers in Our Midst #18 - This event has already occurred

Event Details:

Writers in our Midst (WiOM) is a popular reading series of fiction, poetry, and performance. This family-friendly affair has been moved online for Writers in our Midst #18. Join us on Facebook Live for a poetry edition of WiOM and a chance to hear and meet local authors.

Authors participating in this month's WiOM:

Elby Wordsmith

Elby has lived his whole life in BC, and now resides in Port Moody. He's been fascinated with poetry since high school English class and has now been writing seriously for the past two decades. He self published a book of 75+ poems which is in Port Moody and Coquitlam libraries. You can access some of his works on Portfolio. 

Mael Brigde

Mael is a Vancouver poet and author. Her latest project is A Brigit of Ireland Devotional - Sun Among Stars. It looks carefully at the saint and goddess from many different angles, using and as much as possible attributing a variety of sources. It expresses joy, doubt, and inspiration, attempts to debunk certain persistent myths and encourage and assist those who find themselves drawn to Brigit for whatever reason, personal or academic. Dr. Lily Liu

Dr. Lily Liu is a researcher, instructor, writer, Chinese herbal medicine specialist. She has published not only papers and books on botanical medicine but poetry and prose as well. Learn more at Lily Liu's Facebook page.

Lyn Ayre

Lyn is a prolific writer penning poetry, short stories, spiritual books, energy healing manuals, and her memoir. An avid reader, she also enjoys dabbling in the arts–painting, potting, cooking, gardening, jewelry-making, perfumery, singing, and photography. Her book, Fragments of a Shattered Soul Made Whole, is now for sale worldwide in all popular formats. Her next literary foray is Romantic Suspense genre, as she continues to write, Murder on Belcut Mountain. Lyn makes her home in Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada. To learn more visit her website. 

Gerry Bradley

Gerry was born and raised on Prince Edward Island before moving to BC. He spent thirty-four years working in community mental health in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, and is now recently retired. He lives in Port Moody with his wife, Sasha, and their dog, Roxy. Gerry’s recent book of poetry "Playing with Dolls and Other Poems", is available by contacting: gerrybradley18@gmail.com

Kasturi Ghosh

Kasturi Ghosh is an International Trade consultant by profession and a wordsmith by compulsion. Her career has let to live in multiple continents and visit a score of countries, allowing her to observe the intriguing cultural diversity of geographies and the common thread of human emotions that bind us all... which forms the raw material for her poetry. She lives with her spouse in Port Moody and can be found online on Facebook and Instagram under the handle kasturighoshconnect and a curated writing blog on Facebook- Wandering Words. Her published book of poetry is "Parched Paper- A Tapestry of Words".

Karen Hein

Karen has been writing poetry since grade four. She is working towards her dreams of being a metaphysical/spiritual guidance Life Coach. She has been a motivational speaker for the Smoking Cessation group, and for the benefits of working and volunteering. She believes that mental wellness is possible for everyone. Karen is working on her memoirs, another book of poetry, and her journals. She resides in Port Coquitlam and is surrounded and supported by friends and family. Visit her website. 

Sarain Keeshig-Soonias

Sarain Keeshig-Soonias is a Cree/Anishnaabe writer residing in Vancouver, Canada. He recently helped his younger brother create the forthcoming Frank Gypsum Show for television and currently has a short-film script in pre-production. Sarain enjoys songwriting and occasionally performing stand-up comedy. Poems from his initial collection, All Wrong Horses on Fire That Go Away in The Rain will be featured in Shrapnel Magazine, Carousel Magazine, and The Temz Review.
